Engaging Little Ones in Worship

Nursery is provided for birth through pre-k during Sunday School and corporate worship in the Family Life Center.

We believe that it is important to disciple little ones from womb onward. We want to engage our little ones in ways that show Jesus to their young hearts and minds. While little ones may not remember these moments, even these moments of worshipful care bring honor to the Father and prepare our little ones to worship King Jesus. Our nursery volunteers follow this model when ministering to your little ones:

Speak.

Speak encouraging words to the kids and speak over each kid’s life. Use phrases such as “I love you”, “Jesus loves you”, “You are a gift from God”, “I see God working in your life”, etc. Encourage a child when you see a child act Christ-like.

Pray.

Pray over each kid while in your care. Pray for their physical, spiritual, and emotional development. Pray for their families’ walk with the Lord. Pray for the child’s submission to King Jesus.

Read.

Read a Bible story to the kids. Let kids hear God’s Word, whether they understand it all or not. God’s Word will be heard and absorbed. As you read the story, show the child pictures.

Care.

Care for the child’s physical and emotional needs. Comfort the child. Change diapers. Play with the kids. Recognize and fulfill the individual needs of each child.

Sing.

Sing music that honors Christ with kids. Kids will learn rhythm and words to simple songs over time. Sing songs that teach kids about who God is and what he is doing in the world. Sing songs directed to God.

“…from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for deliverance through faith in Christ Jesus.” – 2 Timothy 3:15
