It is our conviction that every church must keep the Gospel and, therefore, Christ at the center. Being gospel-centered means we believe the gospel is to be at the center of all we do. Every ministry we do, sermon we preach and song we sing will be centered around the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. To live gospel centered means that one is to live aware of how the gospel changes everything. Further we affirm that every passage of Scripture is to be interpreted in light of who Jesus is and what he has done for believers through his death burial and resurrection. J. A, Medders, sums it up well when he writes, “Gospel-centeredness means that the person and work of Jesus is the central message in all things; he is our model for all of life and ministry; the Son of God is our motivation in obedience to God’s Word; and Jesus of Nazareth is the means to carry out all that God commands.” We agree with Paul that the Gospel should be of “first importance” to every Christian (1 Corinthians 15).
